Transitions, TLC, and Transition Centers plan to open 6 centers in Wyoming over the next 3 years.  Six centers will potentially provide every person leaving a Wyoming prison the opportunity to break the cycle of crime.  Separate centers will be developed for male and female prisoners.  Prison changes people, but not all changes are positive.  The prison environment presents a unique set of psychological, sociological, and spiritual challenges.  Transitions, TLC, and Transitions Centers will focus on those returning to society from State or Federal prison.

Transitions, TLC, is targeting the opening of the Transition Center pilot project in Cheyenne in the summer of 2005, with timing subject to Center funding through State and Federal Grants and contracts.  The Cheyenne pilot project will house 15 males for an average stay of 3 months, or an overall capacity of 60 persons per year.  Two additional Transitions, TLC, houses will be established in 2006—one in Casper, for women, and one in Gillette.  In 2007, houses in Rock Springs, Cody, Riverton, and Sheridan will be established. By 2008, the six Transition Center houses with their potential of 60 residents each should provide transition opportunity to the entire annual population of persons released from Wyoming prisons.
